Over the past two years of writing this blog it has become something very important to me.  I almost hate to say that is has changed my life, but it has.  I’m not the same person I was when I started writing it and I’m a much better and wiser person for it.

Fast-food giant McDonald’s has been up against a wall in recent years as consumers have demanded healthier food options, not just from them but food producers in general. New salads, grilled chicken options and even fruit as side dishes have graced more of the chain’s menus. Now in New Zealand, Weight Watchers-approved menu items will be available

Yesterday was an off day for weights so I decided to just go for a walk.  I decided I should try to walk 3 miles because if it’s in my head to eventually run three miles I probably should start off with walking it. I went to the park and ended up walking half a lap and jogging half a lap before it got dark and very cold.  Being the baby that I am, I couldn’t take the lack of sun, so I went to the gym to continue the adventure on the treadmill.  I think walked two mile on the treadmill at varying inclines (yay fake hills!) and then ran another .25 miles at the end of the walk. Well, there you go!  Three miles accomplished!  Of which .5 miles were run/jogged/slogged.  Now I just need to slowly build upon that.  I would have tried jogging more of it but I had an unexpected friend come in to check out the gym so I chatted with her while I was walking on the treadmill.

This is the second post in a series on the issues ( the first was on emotional eating ) that led me to overeat and develop bad habits that caused me to become obese.  In these posts I try to examine the problems and issues I had with food in the years when I was becoming obese. One thing that caused my obesity that I’ve never told anyone about was my problem with compulsive eating. It’s hard to explain compulsive eating to people who don’t do it.  It’s something I feel like a lot of people don’t understand.  Although I’ve moved on from it for the most part I’m not even sure I understand why I did it or what caused me to develop this particular disordered eating habit.
