Today when I woke up I decided to hop on the scale. I don’t do it every morning anymore, but I do check in every other day or so just out of habit. But I want to tell you why I don’t pay attention to the number. This morning I hopped on the scale and it said 214.0 lbs. Considering that I weighed in at 211.8 at my last weigh in on Sunday, that should be disappointing, right?

If you’re someone who loves to do cardio workouts or spinning classes this may be just the tip for you… A study performed by Jie Kang and his associates showed that those participants who started their cardio workouts slowly and then finished their routines (the 2nd half) at a fast pace burned more calories. When they compared their findings to the group who started out fast for the 1st half of their workout and then finished slower they saw that the other group of “strong finishers” burned 5-10% more fat per workout. In this case the researchers are looking at fat burned through caloric expenditure which they then translate into stored fat burned.

But one of the primary complaints about fitness DVDs is that they don’t provide the challenge that you may receive in the gym, in a workout class or with a personal trainer. But two incredibly popular workout DVD programs promise the sweat and burn you would get from training with any hardcore trainer.

After my last post which got a lot of reader comments on whether or not ” working out makes you hungrier ,” I wanted to make sure an important point was made on post workout nutrition. When I asked you if exercising made you hungrier I should have been more clear since I didn't want to insinuate that you should not be hungry after exercising.

Laughter is an instant vacation. ~Milton Berle One day while on Facebook I saw an event called Laughing Yoga and before I knew it I had signed up and called the yoga studio to pay my registration fee.
